Soap nuts are found in both the eastern and western hemisphere,but are native to India and Nepal.They have recently become a popular environmentally friendly alternative to chemical detergent and it is an option for those with allergies to chemicals in regular detergents.
The soap nut shells absorbs water and release the saponins which circulate as a natural surfactant in the wash water,freeing dirt grime,and oils from clothing.

History of Soap nut tree

This is the picture of soap nut tree .The soap nut tree was originally native to southern India,but today it is widespread throughout the country we have it too here in Philippines.The soap nut tree generally grows to a height of as much as 15m,with the crown of the tree around 1.50m in width.Leaves are between 12 and 30cm long.The seeds are used for production of natural washing powder.
